Adviser Bio
Hello, my name is Tess!
Ludington High School, Class of 2012, Alpha Grad.
Four years later, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Astrophysics with a Minor in Mathematics.
The following Fall, I attended West Shore Community College for a Certificate in Welding; I lasted one semester.
Some time later, I completed an 8-month IBM Certification in Data Analysis through Coursera.
Most recently, I tried a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics online with Western Governors University; I completed 13 credits before deciding I prefer working one-on-one.
In addition to my personal college adventures, I spent two years as an AmeriCorps College Adviser, trained by the Michigan College Access Network. I served full-time for a total of three years, supporting the students of LHS and the greater community.
If anything, I know how to enroll in college.Mental Health Matters
In the Fall of 2024, I had a mental crisis, was put on the wrong meds, and then lost my advising job in the aftermath. Now I have an appointment at Community Mental Health three times a month.
However, that did not change my passion for college access. So here we are, back in action, providing free college advising, now with no government oversight! #TryAndStopMe
